Helix Construction

In June 2009 construction began on the helix. One requirement was that passenger cars & big steam engines would be able to pass each other on the curves. So 32 1/2  & 35 inch radius became the standard. Rise was to be about 16.5 inches with 60 inch straight track on each side with a maximum grade of about 1.8%.
